Q2) Why does the body/mind system hold memory?

The idea is that our body/mind system holds memory of all of the stresses and traumas that we have experienced in our past. The body memory is really a way of compartmentalizing our experience, so we don't have to deal with the emotional pain associated with it. For many of us, the pain at the time of the original insult would have be too great and too destabilizing to face - so our body wisdom protects us by walling us off from the pain until a later time when we are capable of processing it.
